7 SINS FOR SKIN #5

7 SINS FOR SKIN #5 FACIAL EXPRESSIONS

The 15,000 facial expressions you make every day can damage skin. Frowning, smiling, squinting—the constant movement of facial muscles causes skin fibers to slacken. Over time, these creases become wrinkles.

Many facial expressions show how we are feeling. Smiling...we are happy, frowning...sad, squinting...stressed or thinking about something, eyes wide open...shock or worry. They all show our expressions of how we feel inside. These are inevitable emotions that we sometimes cannot control. So what do we do about it?? If you find yourself frowning a lot, find something that makes you happy and will make you smile more. If you find yourself squinting, relax your facial muscles or wear your sunglasses.

Facial muscles can be trained just like any other muscle in the body. Here's my "double" advice, not as an Avon rep, but as someone with physical therapy background. Training your facial muscles is as easy as saying the vowels. Stand in front of a mirror, and exaggerate the vowels x 10 reps. You will be making funny faces at yourself and will be smiling more by the end of the exercise! Then cleanse your face and apply moisturizer. The perfect prescription.

I love when I can give advice in both areas of my expertise!

7 SINS FOR SKIN #4

7 SINS FOR SKIN #4 POLLUTION

Pollutants in the air coat skin with grime that can block pores. Free radicals can break down skin’s structure, leading to wrinkles, roughness, dehydration and loss of elasticity.

We are exposed to pollutants each and every day, such as cigarette smoke, car exhaust, smog, dirt and dust.  So what are we supposed to do? Stay indoors? Put ourselves in a bubble? Pretty unrealistic if your ask me. Here are a few tips to help combat the effects of pollution on our skin.

Eat foods rich in antioxidants for the first line of defense to help protect our skin and overall health from pollutants in the air, from the inside out. It has to start from within. Some foods that are rich in antioxidants are tomatoes, carrots, squash, sweet potatoes, bell peppers and leafy greens. Thank goodness I love them all!

Next your want to drink more water. This will help flush toxins out of the body that clog your pores and hydrate the skin.

Use skin care products that are rich in vitamins A, C and E for added protection.

Cleanse your skin to wash away impurities that you've collected during your busy days.

Lastly, use Sunscreen to protect your skin from free radicals in the air that collect on your skin and clog pores. Look for moisturizers that have sunscreen in them to protect your skin.

Pollution is all around us.  We just need to be aware that it out there and find ways to combat the effects of pollution on our skin and overall health.

7 SINS FOR SKIN #3

7 SINS FOR SKIN #3 Stress and Lack of Sleep

Stress and lack of sleep can lead to dryness, sensitivity, acne, excess oil or lackluster skin.

Exercise

We all have stressors in our daily lives. It's how we deal with them that help us combat what stress can do to our overall health.  Getting enough exercise can help boost the circulation and release endorphins that make us feel good. The increase in blood flow helps wash away toxins that clog our pores, allowing for more radiant looking skin.

Relax

This is probably the hardest thing for most of us to do. We are all so busy with family, work, school, shopping, carpooling and the list goes on. When is there time to relax? Well, we have to make time to improve our health and overall look of our skin. Try to slow down, take some breaks throughout the day, and don't take things so seriously.  There is also meditation, deep breathing and just taking some quiet time alone to help us relax.

Sleep

Getting enough restorative sleep is vital to give your skin time to repair and rejuvenate. A good night's rest limits the release of cortisol, a harmful hormone released when we are stressed. Cortisol can cause harmful things to happen in the body including accumulating fat or making your skin very dry, oily, wrinkled or full of acne. Get about 7 hours of sleep a night for healthy stress-free radiant looking skin.

#2 Smoking

Smoking deprives skin of nutrients and oxygen, leaving it looking dull and lifeless. Smoking also causes harmful free radicals, which weaken collagen and elasticity, accelerating the aging process.

Of course, it is a personal preference to smoke. For those that do, this message is meant to understand the effects of smoking on your skin.

Tips for New Representatives

Editing your new eStore

Once you have set up your eStore at yourAvon.com, you can edit the "storefront" to focus on your own style and marketing goals. First navigate to your web office. It looks like this with the "Web Office" highlighted in the main menu. There is so much you can do in your office, so it would be beneficial to spend some time here and get used to all it attributes. Today let's focus on the eStore.

There are two ways to edit your eStore. 1. In the sub-menu you will see eStore at the far right and it's drop down menu will have an option to edit, or 2. the shortcut can be used. It's the first pink box. Once you get to the eStore, you will see the storefront which has general information, including widgets for products, recruiting, etc. Each of these widgets can be edited to fit your style of marketing, by clicking the pink box with pencil in the upper right hand corner.

This is my eStore. As you can see I like to change the main frame to match the current campaign with some text for specials or information I think will interest my customers.  I like to keep the Campaign Widget for easy links to my store, brochure or quick entry, and the update widget collects information from my customers so I can send them email specials. I also use the Blog or Twitter widget, The Be-you-tiful widget to sign up new representatives on my Team, and of course a product widget to keep my customers up to date with new products. You can customize your eStore however you like. Get creative!

7 SINS FOR SKIN

7 SINS FOR SKIN #1

Although skin starts aging the moment you’re born, the signs generally don’t start appearing until you’re around 30. While you can’t stop skin from aging completely, you can keep it looking youthful longer. Sin #1 is The Sun.

Aging specifically caused by UV rays is called photoaging. Sun exposure dries skin, thickens the epidermis and slows down cell renewal, which leads to fine lines, wrinkles and uneven tone. Avoid the sun when possible and wear sunscreen daily.

Sell Avon-Getting Started

Sell Avon and start your own success story!

You have made the decision to start your own business. That was step one and maybe the hardest.  It gets easy from here! The purpose of today's blog is to help you set up your account with Avon and open your eStore for business. It sounds like a lot but trust me, it is only a few steps and I would like to walk you through it. Let's get started!

Once you have completed your contract and paid the $15 start up fee, Avon will send you a welcome email with all the information you need to begin your registration.
Go to youravon.com. Right underneath the log in area, you will see "Welcome New Representative" and a link "Set up your account now" and get your Avon business started.
Fill in the information required that you should find on your welcome email including district number and account number.
Continue to follow the directions to complete your account set up. Once you answer all the questions you will get to a "Congratulations!" page and be redirected back to the log in page. Enter your account and password.

Now you are ready to set up your eStore! This is where it got exciting for me. I was in control of my own business! So you have already signed in with your account number and password and you will see several tabs across the top of the screen. Click on Web Office.

If you are familiar with navigating around websites, this area is worth spending some time because it will be the heart of your business including customer invoicing, emails, social media, account information and ordering. But let's concentrate on your eStore.

Click on the pink box in the web office that says Online Quick Set Up. This will take you step by step through to get your store up and running.  Edit your store to suit your style and your marketing goals. Click the tab "edit eStore" and you will see the standard widgets with a small pink box and pencil, in the upper right hand corner. Click the box and edit that widget however you like. There is also directions on how to enter your email addresses.

Once your eStore is up and running, go to the email center, also located in the Web Office, and send out an email to family and friends, letting them know your store is open for business. The emails are already designed, so you can pick the one you want to send.  Here's my eStore (picture taken several campaigns ago) to get an idea of how I customize and update it each campaign.
That's all there is to setting up your eStore! You are now open for business 24/7.
