Sell Avon Beauty Products at Tent Events

Selling Avon online has been the focus of my business lately and I yet I was missing something. There is something to be said about meeting with customers, listening to their needs and helping them decide on products that can better their lives. I heard about a local community event this weekend and decided I wanted to get out there and market my beauty products myself. I signed up.

Tent events are a great way to showcase products and meet new customers. Today I participated in a tent event called Summerfest in Chatham, NY, only 20 min from where I live. Here I am after setting up my area.

What Beauty Products do I bring to the Event?

Planning is the key to a successful sales event. First you must know your audience. Find out what the community culture is, the local atmosphere, and others events that take place in the community. I decided my focused product would be Skin So Soft Bug Guard for this event and provided a chart that compared all the Bug Guard products. I brought enough inventory of each product to make a nice display, with a stand-up price marker at the end of each row. It looked pretty good!



The plastic price stands were purchased at Staples and can be reused at future event for different products. A good investment.

How to Sell Beauty Products at Events

Here is where your own personality comes through. I am not a pushy, hard selling person, I just love to talk to people and for me that works. I like to let the customer lead the conversation, adding to it with information about my products. This works for me and I would advise you to find what works for you and go with it!

For the Summerfest event, I wore my pink Avon Beauty Boss shirt which actually drew some questions from visitors to my booth.  It was a great time to talk to them about the Avon opportunity.
As part of my display, I had some recruiting material including the Beauty Boss flyer with my business cards, and a flyer with optional starter kits.



In front of the "Help Wanted" sign, I made some trial packets that included 3 brochures, 3 samples, order forms, my business card and instructions for how to start your own Avon business.  It gives people the opportunity to share the brochures and collect orders. It works or it doesn't and I want my new team members to be successful!

For all Avon representatives that are interested in doing community events, my hat is off to you! Get out there and enjoy your community while gaining new customers and team members. The one and ONLY drawback to this tent event was the torrential downpour that happened as we were packing the car! You can't fight mother nature and we thought of it as an adventure. My husband (who called it a monsoon) was a good sport!

Fundraising with Avon

Avon representatives have a great opportunity to help community schools and organizations raise funds. There are so many organizations out there that need funds for equipment, supplies, books, uniforms, family support, and the list goes on. Avon fundraisers are easy to sell because of the well-known brand name, the Avon guarantee and they are products that the whole family can use. 

If you are a representative and a little fearful of trying a fundraiser, DON'T BE! Avon provides so many tools to get you started. Look on youravon.com under the Earnings Opportunities tab in your web office. There you will find all the forms and information you need. From the agreement form to thank you notes! It even gives you some examples of phone conversations for the shy representative that really doesn't know where to start. And these are not drilled in stone, just examples and ideas for you to build upon.  

Personally, I don't like cold calling. I prefer to do a mailing. So I look through local newspapers for organizations that are advertising their fundraising events or sports sign-ups, you get the idea. After doing some research about the organization, what they do, their address or contact person, I write letters for each one. As an example, for a local boys baseball team I wrote a letter asking if they needed to raise funds for equipment, uniforms or camps. And don't be discouraged if you get no response. Write another letter to a different organization and move on!

I also email organizations if I have that information. This seems to get a better response than letters. It may not always be positive, but at least you know where you stand. No worries, move on!

Talk to people! You never know when you will spark someones interest in a fundraiser. While at work the other day, I asked a co-worker about a fundraiser for her son's school. I gave her a packet that I put together with information about the various programs I have to offer, that she presented to the principle. They are interested and will be raising funds with the Skin So Soft Bug Guard!

What do I love about selling Avon? The possibilities are endless. 

I was recently asked to represent my Avon business at a "Spa Day" event which will be held at a local assisted living center.  My wheels started turning. How can I best represent myself as a local Avon representative and showcase some of my favorite "spa" items. 

I decided to put together some gift baskets with some of my favorite bundles, SSS, Planet Spa, Bubble Bath, and Foot Works. So here's some examples of baskets I've put together.

I used some inexpensive baskets and containers from the Dollar Store, made my own fill by shredding old wrapping paper and tissue paper, and finished them off with a clear bag and decorative bows. My objective was to keep my costs low so that customers are only paying for the products. They came out beautiful and affordable.

I'm going to do a raffle and put together a larger basket with some items I had on hand. Sorry it's not done yet so no picture available.  I made up some raffle tickets, in hot pink of course, as a free entry to win, while gathering information for possible new customers.  I will let people know at the event that they will receive emails from me about Avon products and sales. 

I also put together small bundles of a shower gel and lotion in a variety of scents, tied together with a ribbon and packed into a large basket. Cute and affordable, paired with a gift basket and customers are happy with their spa purchase! 

And we can't forget a wonderful fragrance to end our spa event. Of course it's So Very Sofia! This is really a nice fragrance and the beautiful Sofia markets herself. This is how I will display my So Very Sofia at the event, mentioning to customers that they also get a FREE shower gel and body lotion with every fragrance purchase.

 

These are some ideas you are welcome to use at your own events. The most important thing is to be creative and show your own true colors. Your customers will love getting to know you!
